The Distribution Unit
The Distribution Unit is the basic building block of the Neon system. One Distribution Unit is required for every 8 flats and the maximum number of flats on a system is 2040. Multiple audio and/or video handsets can be installed in each flat if required.
The Distribution Unit provides:-
- Full line isolation to every flat – no damage to any flat wiring or telephone will cause a fault on the system
- Full speech & lock isolation – flats can only communicate with a door panel and release the door after having been called
- On video systems, video signal amplification and isolation via coax or twisted-pair wiring
- Selectable door-open indication polarity to suit different makes of existing handset
- They also have a self-test routine and relay-contact-clean routine built in to ease servicing and prolong their life.
Distribution Units are supplied housed within their own Fibox/ABS or Locked Metal Enclosures OR inside a Boxed Exchange c/w Power Supply and Trades Clock (typically for smaller systems up to 16 flats)
Power Supplies (for Standalone PSU or Boxed Exchange)
The Neon system power supply is based on an extremely robust and reliable switch-mode power supply and optional trades time clock with auto GMT/BST switching. All housed in a powder coated, mild steel enclosure with integral key-lock.
Low Energy Consumption
The Neon Door Panels and Distribution Nodes are very economic in their power requirements
- A Door Panel, with display, draws 234mA in standby and 337mA when in use.
- A Distribution Node draws 23mA in standby and 53mA when a channel is in use
- The vast majority of systems will only require 1 power supply unit, however additional power supplies can be installed in strategic positions if required on very large installations.
Power supply ratings: –
- Input voltage range 88 – 264VAC
- Output voltage range 13.5 – 16.5VDC (Preset to 13.8VDC)
- Float charges a 12V 7.0Ah Standby Battery (if required)
- Rated current 2.4A
- Protection for short circuit, over load and over voltage
- Supply recovers automatically after fault condition is removed
- Meets UL60950-1 and TUV EN60950-1 Safety Standards
- Complies with EN55022 (CISPR22) Class B for EMI Conduction and Radiation
- Complies with EN61000-4-2,3,4,5,6,8,11 for EMS Immunity
Trades Time Clock
This 7 day programmable digital timer is purpose made for door entry systems and has the following features: –
- Operates from 13.8VDC supply
- Automatic British Summer Time/Greenwich Mean Time switching
- Quartz timing with battery reserve
- 7 day programming with daily and weekly programs
- 8 on/off periods
- 15 repeat options: day, week, weekend, odd weekdays etc
- Manual override
Boxed Exchanges (Distribution Node/s and Power Supply in one housing)
For ease of installation on smaller systems Neon manufactures a range of boxed exchanges that combine Distribution Node/s, power supply and optional trades clock into one metal enclosure.
